Hello! I am grateful that you are visiting my page and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out. A bit about me - I am Jen, born and raised in Eastern Canada but in 2005 I moved to Washington, D.C and have remained in the States since that time, making the Nashville area my home about 15 years ago. I am a single mama of two awesome girls and a human being who is passionate about living authentically and supporting others in their journey of healing and connecting with the truest version of self.
For nine years, I had the incredible honor of walking along side hundreds of amazing humans as a Marriage and Family Therapist and as of recently, after listening to the deepest parts of myself, I have closed one chapter to open another and have stepped full time into practicing Embodied Healing which includes: Trauma Recovery and Resolution Work, Authentic Self Discovery work, Therapeutic Life Coaching and Somatic Based Healing.
(I ask your patience as I continue to update and curate my new website, tis a tedious task!)
I believe as human beings we are wired to heal - body, brain, nervous system and psyche/soul - no matter what has occurred in our life, there are paths to wholeness and recovery. Gratefully, we have an increasing amount of research in the fields of neuroscience and neurophysiology showing that healing ourselves from acute stress, trauma, attachment ruptures, no matter how far in the past our wounding occurred, is possible. And not only is it possible but as Dr. Peter Levine, the creator of Somatic Experiencing® states: "I have come to the conclusion that human beings are born with an innate capacity to triumph over trauma. I believe that not only is trauma curable, but that the healing process can be a catalyst for profound awakening..."
In order to access our innate capacity to heal the past, we must become present. In order to be present, we must explore and build our capacity to become more fully embodied, developing the ability to identify sensations and emotions and allow them to move through us without fear.
My role in your journey is to provide a regulated and safe space for your body, mind and psyche to compassionately and curiously explore parts of self that are still held captive to the past or parts of self that are impacted by present day stressors. Just like the image of the tree rings at the top of my page reveal the age of the tree, we as humans also carry within us and our physiology, every age that we have been and thus imprints of any experience we have been through that was too much. The work of Embodied Healing is the art and practice of learning about and tapping into our various layers of self, creating space to allow emotion and trauma energy to move.
Working together, we will create a plan that fits for you and your needs at this time. Please e-mail with any questions or to book an initial free 15 min consultation.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE®) is a body-oriented approach to healing trauma, developed by Dr. Peter Levine. SE® has a particular focus on restoring self-regulation in a persons autonomic nervous system, thus restoring balance in mind, body and psyche. SE® supports people in the release of thwarted survival energy. Somatic work can relieve emotional and bodily stress which has become essentially trapped within the autonomic nervous system following a traumatic experience.
[Trauma = anything we have experienced that was too much for our nervous system, it is the imprint of the event]
Somatic Experiencing® utilizes techniques to release traumatic shock, to connect to the body’s innate healing ability, and to restore a sense of vitality and wholeness in traumatized individuals.
I completed my 216hrs of Somatic Experiencing Training in 2018.

"The body has been designed to renew itself through continuous self-correction. These same principles also apply to the healing of the psyche, spirit and soul." Dr. Peter Levine
Having had the honor of being a part of so many healing journeys, let alone walking my own, I have come to regard the concept of recovery as a re-covery, namely that when we engage in trauma healing work we re-cover who we are, the authentic self beneath the trauma. However, it is also important to recognize that recovery does not mean we cease to have difficulties or problems in life but more so that we have a greater capacity in our bodies, in our emotional and mental window of tolerance to be present to life without being overwhelmed or hijacked by thoughts, feelings, emotions and sensations from the past. Through the process of Trauma Recovery we learn to befriend our younger parts of self, body sensations, all the while being supported by another who will hold regulated space for you and allow your nervous system to recognize it is now okay to come into a more regulated state and out of survival responses like fight/flight/fawn/freeze.
Trauma Recovery work begins with establishing safety - what this feels like in the body and with another human, This takes as long as it takes. Once we have established this, we can move into integration and processing of the imprints of trauma. The final stage of Trauma Recovery is coming home to self and re-defining life on your terms. As with all healing processes, this is also a fluid process. I will always work at your pace and always want a collaborative working relationship.
"Safety is the healing."
Dr. Steven Porges
Dr. Steven Porges is the originator of the Polyvagal Theory and all and any of my coaching and healing work is filtered through a Polyvagal lense. Together in our sessions we will explore what this theory provides us regarding an understanding of human survival strategies, we will identify where your nervous system currently registers and then work to reshape the neuropathways impacted by stuck survival energy. We can do this through curiosity, tracking sensations, orienting to our current environment, inner child work, healing touch work/support and more. We will create a plan that works best for you - always.

What is the difference between traditional Psychotherapy and Embodied Life Coaching?
*Even though I come from a Psychotherapy background, I will no longer give diagnoses as that is reserved for Licensed Mental Health Practitioners. If it becomes evident or you are concerned that there are more severe mental health issues or symptoms impacting your life, we will discuss a referral to a mental health practitioner in conjunction with coaching or Somatic Experiencing® which is beneficial to helping regulate the nervous system and many times alleviate or help symptoms associated with many mental health diagnoses.
* With Embodied Life Coaching we will explore your current life and areas you are wanting to address in order to attain greater fulfillment in your day to day life and/or we will work together with Somatic Experiencing® to remove psychological or energetic blocks within the body and nervous system that may be keeping you stuck in relationship cycles, mental rumination or physical symptoms presenting often times as anxiety or depression.
*to be continued...
